Slow Me Down
Today, I left the stairs on the wrong floor on the way to my Journalism class. My classroom wasn't where it was supposed to be, and I became very confused.
Yesterday, I drove straight through a red light in uptown Oxford.
I'm involved in a lot of jobs and activities, and I usually plow through each day on a full tank of unleaded stress. Lately, it has been getting to me.
It doesn't seem like I have free time, EVER. All my IM messages complain about not having heard from me in weeks.
My mom thinks I need to quit one of my jobs, but I like them all... so I don't know what to do. Firefighter training will be ending in two weeks, so that will free up half of my Sunday's at least. That's assuming I don't go on to the next level class beginning immediately afterward.
College, fire department, WMSR, dispatching at the PD, fire-school, and a social life aren't all fitting in a healthy way.
I need a nap!
NYC @ CMJ and Digital Life
Just a quick post... you'll get the full scoop when I have a chance.
Today I have been browsing the exhibitors at the
CMJ Music Marathon in NYC, and now I'm next door in the
Digital Life convention, specifically at the Google display, which is relatively awesome. God, how I love me some
Google.
I'll be back on Sunday night, don't worry.
Leave some comments or send some emails. :)
Hump Day
I exited my Journalism class at 12:53pm to the Pulley bell tower gleefully playing assorted show tunes. Apparently the play-times do not correlate with the time-telling function of the giant clock tower, or it plays songs in
anticipation of the coming hour rather than when it actually happens. [Note:
this link explains the play times, but I don't think it actually works that way]
Upon reaching my car I discovered that, after being parked in a faculty spot for several hours, I had absolutely no
parking tickets. What a glorious day.
I'm slowly recovering from my not-so-deadly illness, which struck during work on Sunday. I've had a simmering fever for a few days now but I am slowly conquering it. (or it has ran its course and my immune system is on vacation)
Last Sunday was my second firefighter class. We all had the joy of suiting up in our
turnout gear, donning the air-packs, and practicing some search and rescue while blindfolded. After eight hours of that, I went in for four hours of dispatching. It was a slow night, but it was good quality time with Joanne and Buddy so I survived.
This weekend: Miami U's parent's weekend (although mine probably won't be able to make it), 12 hours of dispatching, at least 8 hours of Miami EMS, 8 hours of firefighter school, and who knows what else.
The following weekend: NEW YORK CITY with
WMSR for the
2004 CMJ Music Marathon, a radio station conference.
